UPDATE: Projects start next week to seal bridges on U.S. 95 and U.S. 12

EDITOR’S NOTE: Work on Memorial Bridge and Spalding Bridge will start May 27.

LEWISTON – Bridge decks will be sealed during the next two weeks on two U.S. 12 bridges and another on U.S. 95, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Drivers are advised to expect delays of up to 15 minutes on U.S. 12's Memorial Bridge, the Big Canyon Creek Bridge on U.S. 12 or the Spalding Bridge on U.S. 95.

The Truesdell Corporation of Tempe, Ariz., will begin work Monday (May 19) on the Big Canyon Creek Bridge. Work on the Memorial Bridge and the Spalding Bridge will start on Tuesday (May 27).

The estimated cost of the bridge projects is $214,000.

The Memorial Bridge is located in Lewiston (milepost 1.94 to 2.19 on U.S. 12). The Spalding Bridge (milepost 304.09 to 304.32 on U.S. 95) and the Big Canyon Creek Bridge (milepost 34.90 to 34.92 on U.S. 12) are located east of Lewiston in Nez Perce County.

The work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the three bridges. All lanes on the bridges will be open outside of those work hours.

Memorial Bridge has four lanes, two in each direction. Crews will work on one lane, on one side, at a time. One side of the bridge will have two lanes open, while the side being worked on will have one lane open.

Flaggers will guide drivers across the Spalding Bridge and the Big Canyon Creek Bridge, which will be reduced to a single lane of travel.
