Multiple traffic shifts on I-84 between Broadway and Gowen next week
BOISE – A series of traffic shifts and lane configuration changes begin Monday (May 19) on Interstate 84 between the Broadway and Gowen interchanges. The work is part of the Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) project to widen and improve the east I-84 corridor.
I-84 traffic will be shifted into different lanes every day from Monday through Saturday (May 24) as crews pave different sections of the
interstate.
Crews will pave and stripe new lanes on I-84 in the median between the two interchanges. Later this summer, drivers will shift onto these lanes as the outside lanes of the interstate are rebuilt.
Motorists need to slow down when driving through the work zone and pay attention to signs.
Drivers can expect to see increased activity in the work zone as crews begin to prepare for the traffic shifts. Overnight lane restrictions will continue between the Broadway and Gowen interchanges from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights and until 7 a.m. on weekends.
Construction began on the east I-84 corridor in March and is expected to be complete in late 2015. When finished, I-84 will be widened to three lanes between Gowen and Broadway. In addition, the Broadway and Gowen interchanges also will be replaced.
Construction updates will be sent via email to interested parties and posted on the project website at www.itd.idaho.gov/GowenInterchange. To sign up for email construction updates, contact ITD at comments@itd.idaho.gov, visit the project website, or call (208) 334-8005.
