Traffic switch planned for Idaho 75 Wednesday (May 28)
KETCHUM – Following paving of the short section of Idaho 75 between the Big Wood River Bridge and Hospital Drive, traffic is expected to switch to new pavement Wednesday (May 28). Work will then be underway on the northbound lanes throughout the construction zone, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The contractor anticipates completion of the project by the end of summer, but any delay due to weather or unforeseen complications can extend work.
Once paving of the short section is complete, followed by roadway markings and signal adjustments, traffic will move to the southbound lanes. During the transition, drivers are urged to use extra caution and watch for temporary lane configurations.
Roadway construction and paving of the short section has been underway for about a month. Reconstruction of the northbound lanes and overall project completion also is underway.
Crews will excavate the roadway to rebuild the base, complete final installation of the stormwater system, and rebuild private and public access points to the highway. Business and residential access will be subject to changes during construction and may be temporarily relocated or restricted during this portion of work.
Idaho Sand and Gravel, of Jerome, is the contractor for the $9.44 million project.
The contractor is not expected to be working between Friday and Monday, per contract, in observance of Memorial Day. Work is allowed as long as it does not impact traffic.
