UPDATE: Projects start to seal bridges on U.S. 95 and U.S. 12

EDITOR’S NOTE: Work on Spalding Bridge will start at a later date. Memorial Bridge will have one lane open on each side at a time.

LEWISTON – Drivers are advised to expect delays while traveling on U.S. 12 and U.S. 95 for bridge work, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Work started on May 19 on the Big Canyon Creek Bridge on U.S. 12. Work will start Tuesday (May 27) on the Memorial Bridge on U.S. 12. Work on the Spalding Bridge, which is on U.S. 95, will start at a later date. Work was originally scheduled to start on May 27.

All three bridge decks will be sealed.

The Truesdell Corporation of Tempe, Ariz., is doing the work. The estimated cost of the bridge projects is $214,000.

The Memorial Bridge is located in Lewiston (milepost 1.94 to 2.19 on U.S. 12). The Spalding Bridge (milepost 304.09 to 304.32 on U.S. 95) and the Big Canyon Creek Bridge (milepost 34.90 to 34.92 on U.S. 12) are located east of Lewiston in Nez Perce County.

The work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All lanes on the bridges will be open outside of those work hours.

Memorial Bridge has four lanes, two in each direction. Crews will work on one lane on each side of the bridge at a time. The other lane on each side of the bridge will remain open. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to reduce the number of vehicles using the bridge.
