Expect pile-driving tests Thursday near Broadway Bridge in downtown Boise
BOISE – Crews will conduct pile-driving tests near the Broadway Avenue Bridge by Boise State University Thursday (May 29), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. Drivers may see crews moving equipment in and preparing the area for the tests.
The pile-driving will be restricted to daytime hours (9 a.m. and 4
p.m.). The tests will generate vibration and noise comparable to that
of a garbage truck.
Piles will be mounted to a crane and hammered into the vacant lot next to University Plaza on Broadway Avenue.
Test results will allow ITD to determine the pile-driving method to use when building the new bridge within the next few years. The existing bridge is over 50 years old and needs to be replaced.
