I-84 overnight lane restrictions, speed-limit reductions continue between Meridian and Five Mile roads

MERIDIAN – Motorists are advised to watch for overnight lane restrictions and speed-limit reductions on Interstate 84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The lane restrictions and speed-limit reductions will continue for the next several weeks.

Lanes will be restricted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the week, and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends. All lanes will be open during the day.

Crews are currently working to remove asphalt in the I-84 median to prepare for the installation of new pavement and storm drain system.

This work is part of a project to improve I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads. When construction is finished in late 2015, the outside lanes will be rebuilt and repaved and the inside lanes will be improved.

In the median, the storm-drain system will be replaced.

The improvements are part of the $50.8 million project to rebuild the Meridian Interchange and improve I-84 in the area. Concrete Placing Co. Inc., of Boise, is the contractor.
