Drivers advised to watch for detour on Idaho 62 beginning next week

LEWISTON – Motorists are encouraged to watch for a detour on Idaho 62 beginning next Monday (June 16), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Vehicles will be routed to Zenner Road and Powerline Road in Lewis County for a project to build a retaining wall and replace a culvert on a section of Idaho 62 about three miles northwest of Nezperce. The project is scheduled to finish June 27, when Idaho 62 will be reopened to traffic.

Idaho 62 will be re-paved where the culvert was replaced. The paving is expected to be finished by mid-July. The detour will not be in effect for the re-paving. Flagging staff will direct motorists through the area during the re-paving.

The contractor on the state-funded project is Debco Construction, of Orofino. The project is estimated to cost $211,000.
