One westbound I-84 lane expected to reopen west of Burley by 7 p.m.

BURLEY – One of two westbound lanes is expected to reopen by 7 p.m. today (Friday, June 13) on Interstate 84 west of Burley as crews continue repairs on a section of the 850 West Road Overpass following a semi-truck crash this morning.

The eastbound lanes have remained open throughout the day, except for a few minutes of rolling closure as the truck was pulled away from the overpass.

The semi-truck crashed into a median pillar supporting the overpass at milepost 205.5 at approximately 5 a.m., killing the Montana driver and causing an interstate closure. Westbound traffic has been detoured off the freeway to avoid the crash site.

The 850 West Road Overpass remains closed as crews continue to assess the damage. It will remain closed through the weekend and will be reassessed Monday (June 16).

This section of I-84 sees approximately 16,500 vehicles per day. The traffic count on the 850 West Road Overpass is approximately 660 vehicles per day.
