REMINDER: Eastbound I-84 ramps at Gowen will be closed June 19, 20 and 23 as blasting continues

BOISE – The eastbound Interstate 84 ramps at the Gowen Road Interchange will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight, tomorrow and Monday evening (June 19, 20 and 23). Traffic will be detoured around the eastbound ramps to keep drivers a safe distance from where crews are blasting rock at the I-84 Gowen interchange construction site.

Flaggers will direct traffic during the detours.

Click here for a map of the detours. Click here for a picture of the basalt rock at Gowen to be blasted.

During blasting, Gowen Road will close between I-84 and the railroad bridge, and the intersection of Gowen Road and Eisenman Road also will close. Eisenman Road will be open to local traffic.

Message boards throughout the area will alert motorists of the coming work. For more information visit the project website at www.itd.idaho.gov/Goweninterchange.

The work-zone speed limit is 25 mph on Gowen Road and 55 mph on I-84.

The Broadway eastbound off-ramp will be closed after the blasting Thursday night (June 19) while crews move guardrail near the ramp. The ramp closure will begin at 11 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

ITD is replacing the I-84, Gowen interchange with one that accommodates additional traffic on I-84 and Gowen Road. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2015. Additional blasting will be scheduled in spring of 2015.

Knife River Corporation, of Boise, is the contractor for the $27 million interchange project.
