Trail Creek Highway road work starts July 7 in Custer County

CUSTER COUNTY - Reconstruction and paving of a six-mile stretch of Trail Creek Highway in Custer County is set to begin July 7 and finish in late September, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The work, from milepost 23.2 to 29.3, also includes the installation of several retaining walls along that stretch of rural, two-lane highway.

The contractor will return in spring 2015 to seal coat the new asphalt to preserve the new driving surface.

Crews will work 10-hour days Monday through Friday as they complete this work, and may work an occasional Saturday depending on workload and time constraints. Although traffic-control methods have not yet been finalized, traffic will not be stopped for more than 15 minutes. The contractor may use flaggers and/or a pilot car to guide drivers.

Knife River Construction, of Boise, is the contractor on this $4 million project.
