REMINDER: I-84 closed at Broadway Interchange tonight during bridge demolition
BOISE – Interstate 84 traffic will be detoured around the Broadway Avenue Interchange tonight (Monday, July 7) from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews demolish the old bridge to make way for the new structure.
Flaggers will direct traffic off I-84 at Broadway, across Broadway Avenue and back onto I-84. Broadway Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The area will re-open as soon as the demolition and cleanup are completed, but no later than 5 a.m. Click here for the detour map.
The bridge demolition is scheduled to continue at the Broadway interchange Tuesday night if needed.
Additional I-84 detours are scheduled between the Broadway and Eisenman interchanges Tuesday through Thursday evenings (7 p.m. to 11 p.m.) for rock blasting.
The bridge demolition tonight is one of several major milestones and traffic impacts this week. Details and detour maps are posted at itd.idaho.gov/BroadwayInterchange and itd.idaho.gov/GowenInterchange.
ITD is replacing the Broadway and Gowen interchanges and adding a
third lane on I-84 between the interchanges. Both projects will add
capacity and help reduce traffic congestion. Construction will be
completed in late 2015.
Concrete Placing Company and Knife River Corporation, both of Boise, are the contractors for the I-84, Broadway and Gowen interchange projects in east Boise. The contract amount for the Broadway project is $26.7 million, and the Gowen project is contracted for $27 million.
