I-84 work east of Boise near milepost 70 involves freeway crossovers, ramp closure
BOISE - The left-most westbound lane on Interstate 84 will be closed today (Tuesday, July 29) east of Boise to allow a crossover of westbound freeway traffic starting tonight and continuing throughout
the two-week project, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Speeds will
be reduced in the areas preceding the crossover.
Crews are preparing to start a pavement-rehabilitation project on 770 feet of cracked and rutted asphalt near milepost 70, between Mayfield and Indian Creek. Work is expected to finish in mid-August.
During the
work, the westbound Mayfield on-ramp also will close. Westbound Mayfield
traffic will be detoured eastbound I-84 to the Simco Road interchange,
where drivers will need to exit and turn around to join the westbound
traffic that will use the crossover near Mayfield.
In
the immediate area of construction, traffic will be restricted to a
single lane in each direction in a two-way, two-lane configuration.
Speeds will be reduced in both directions to 65 mph during construction.
This project will involve a full-depth asphalt removal with an
inlay to match the existing surface, followed by a three-inch-deep
overlay to match the new construction from last season.
Central Paving, of Boise, is the contractor for this $220,000 project.
