Project starts on Monday to apply support material to U.S. 95 bridge

LEWISTON - Work will start Monday (Aug. 4) on a project to apply support materials to the piers of the Clearwater River Bridge on U.S. 95, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is scheduled to finish by the end of September.

Grout bags and scour protection mats will be placed around each of the eight piers of the Clearwater River Bridge, also called the Spalding Bridge. The bridge is east of Lewiston on U.S. 95 at milepost 304, in Nez Perce County.

The grout bags and protection mats will help reduce erosion around the bridge piers.

The work will be performed from a barge anchored in the Clearwater River. There will be no impacts to traffic on U.S. 95.

West Company Inc., of Airway Heights, Wash., is the contractor on the $904,000 project.
