Paving work to continue on U.S. 95 Sandpoint to Kootenai Cutoff

COUER D’ALENE—Paving work will continue on the Schweitzer Cutoff and Kootenai Cutoff next week, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Schweitzer Cutoff Road will be closed from the Sand Creek Bridge to U.S. 95 from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 11) so paving can be completed on all lanes. The roadway will open to one-lane traffic at 10 a.m., however delays are expected. Upon completion of Schweitzer Cutoff Road mid-morning, crews will move to Kootenai Cutoff Road where paving of the eastbound lanes will occur. Westbound lanes will be open to two-way traffic during construction.

On Tuesday (Aug. 12) at 5:30 a.m., crews will complete paving the westbound lanes of Kootenai Cutoff Road, blocking business access from Kootenai Cutoff Road during that time frame. The eastbound lanes will be open to two-way traffic.

ITD reminds drivers to watch for workers and flaggers in the construction zone and expect some delays.

Apollo Inc., of Kenniwick, Wash., is the contractor on the $12.7 million project.
