Construction at junction of Idaho 31 and Idaho 33 in Victor to start Monday, Aug. 18

RIGBY - Construction to improve the intersection of Idaho 31 and Idaho 33 in Victor will begin Monday, Aug. 18, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is scheduled for completion in early October.

Crews will reconstruct the intersection, widening its west side (Idaho 31) and installing traffic signals for all four corners. Workers also will extend sidewalks for improved motorist and pedestrian safety. The project includes new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, light poles and tree wells that will be similar to those on Idaho 33 (Main Street) in Driggs.

Drivers can expect delays and unpaved surfaces throughout the project. Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs. Businesses and residences will remain accessible during work hours, which will be seven days a week, except the Labor Day weekend.

Contractors will meet with citizens interested in the improvement project in the council chambers of Victor City Hall (32 Elm Street) each Tuesday at 11 a.m., starting Aug. 19. Citizens are invited to receive updates, ask questions and express concerns at the Tuesday meetings, which will run through September.

ITD is administering the $1.4 million federally funded project for the city of Victor. The contractor is HK Contractors Inc., of Idaho Falls.
