Paving project begins Aug. 18 on Idaho 24 near Minidoka
RUPERT – Roadway resurfacing work is expected to begin this week on a stretch of Idaho 24 between Minidoka and Kimama, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is expected to be complete by the end of August.
The contractor will complete an asphalt test strip on Thursday and, with a passing test strip, the paving project will begin Monday (Aug. 18). The project will apply an asphalt overlay between mileposts 18 and 32. The work is expected to improve highway smoothness and increase life expectancy.
During the paving project, the roadway will be reduced to one lane. During work hours – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday – drivers should watch for flaggers and a pilot car will guide motorists. Traffic delays of up to 15 minutes may be experienced and a 13-foot width restriction will be in effect. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route.
Kloepfer Inc., of Paul, is the contractor for the $1.4 million roadway maintenance project.
