JEROME – Work to replace a washed-out culvert on Idaho 25 west of Eden continues this week, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The roadway will remain closed until next week, when replacement of the culvert is complete.

The flood waters that caused the initial failure of the culvert Aug. 12 finally subsided over the weekend to allow excavation of the irrigation passage. State forces have removed the remains of the former pipe and saturated material.
Installation of the new pipe and rebuilding the roadway will continue through early next week. A larger, 48-inch pipe will be installed to replace the deteriorated 30-inch culvert. The roadway will reopen after paving is completed.
The roadway is closed between Hunt Road and the junction with Idaho 50 (mileposts 14.5 and 19.2), with access only to local traffic. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route around the site.
