Construction to close southbound Exit 119 on I-15 in Idaho Falls Tuesday (Sept. 2)
RIGBY - Construction will close southbound Exit 119 on Interstate 15 in Idaho Falls Tuesday (Sept. 2), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Closure of the off-ramp will enable reconstruction of the adjacent loop ramp (see attached map) that connects U.S. 20 and Grandview Drive to southbound I-15. Improving the loop ramp, which is northeast of Grandview Drive in Idaho Falls, is scheduled for completion in mid-September.
Southbound Exit 119 will remain closed throughout loop-ramp reconstruction. Motorists southbound on I-15 can access Exit 118 in Idaho Falls.
After closing the ramp, crews will construct a temporary loop ramp utilizing a part of the I-15 off-ramp so that westbound drivers on U.S. 20 and eastbound drivers on Grandview Drive can access southbound I-15. When reconstructed, the loop ramp will be more circular for safer turns.
Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs.
The transportation department awarded the $465,000 reconstruction contract to HK Contractors Inc., of Idaho Falls.
