Roadway testing to close a lane of U.S. 93 through Hollister Monday, Tuesday

HOLLISTER – Traffic on U.S. 93 will be reduced to one lane Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 8-9) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as crews perform ground testing in an area where some oil and other contaminants were uncovered earlier this year, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Drivers should watch for flaggers and expect short delays.

Soil testing of the area under and near the roadway is in preparation for a 2017 roadway restoration project of U.S. 93 through Hollister. Testing is intended to determine the amount and types of contaminants, as well as the total area of impact.

Strata Geotechnical Engineering, of Boise, is the consulting firm for the $45,000 testing and inspection agreement.
