U.S. 12 could be affected by Johnson Bar Fire containment efforts: delays and closures possible Sept. 19-21
LEWISTON—Potential delays or closures are possible on a section of U.S. 12
Friday (Sept. 19) through Sunday (Sept. 21) due to Johnson Bar
Fire containment efforts east of Kooskia, the Idaho Transportation Department
announced. The fire is a 9,850-acre blaze that is only 55 percent contained, located near Lowell and the Moose Creek Ranger District.
The U.S. Forest Service plans to light backfires to help contain and control the wildfire. Initiation of the backfires is weather dependent. Motorists traveling on U.S. 12 could be affected by either delays or a closure of the roadway between Syringa and Lowell from mileposts 88 to 97.
Motorists are advised to consider an alternate route, and to check 511.idaho.gov for road condition updates.
