Gowen Road to have lane restrictions Saturday (Sept. 27) for concrete placing on bridge
BOISE – Lanes on Gowen Road between the Interstate 84 on- and off-ramps will be reduced during the day Saturday (Sept. 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Weather permitting, crews will be placing concrete on the new eastbound bridge over Gowen Road.
Restrictions are as follows:
• From 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Gowen Road will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will direct one lane of traffic in alternating directions through the work zone.
• From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gowen Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
The new eastbound bridges over Gowen Road and the railroad tracks will be open in late October or early November. At that time, all lanes of I-84 will reopen during the winter.
ITD reminds drivers to slow down and pay attention in the work zone. The speed limit is 55 mph on I-84 and 25 mph on Gowen Road.
The Gowen interchange is being replaced to accommodate more traffic and improve safety. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2015.
Knife River Corporation, of Boise, is the contractor for this $27 million project.
