I-84 Canyon County repairs start Sunday night

BOISE - Repairs to a section of Interstate 84 between Linden and Franklin (Exit 29) are slated to begin Sunday night (Oct. 5) at 6 p.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work will extend the life of the highway in this 3/4-mile stretch.

Crews will work overnight Sunday and Monday on the westbound lanes, and overnight Tuesday and Wednesday on the eastbound side. The first night crews will work from 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., but each of the other three nights will be 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Crews will do a full-width, two-inch overlay on this two-lane section of highway. Click here for picture 1 and picture 2 of the location.

Speed will be reduced to 45 mph in the work zone overnight, and to 55 mph in the work zone during days. The work will create an abrupt edge, and signs and candlesticks down the middle of the road will be used to separate vehicles from the edge of construction.

The work is expected to cost about $200,000 from the department’s maintenance budget.
