Girder placement will close I-84 at Broadway Friday and Saturday nights

BOISE – Interstate 84 will close under the Broadway Avenue Interchange Friday (Oct. 17) and Saturday (Oct. 18) nights while the Idaho Transportation Department places 24 girders for the new interchange bridge. During the closure, traffic from I-84 will be detoured across the Broadway interchange.

Westbound I-84 will be closed Friday night from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday. The detour will begin late to accommodate traffic coming from the Boise State football game. On Saturday night, both east- and westbound I-84 will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 9 a.m.

During the closures, traffic will exit and re-enter I-84 using the interchange ramps. Flaggers will direct traffic through the detour route.

These are the last girders to be set on the new interchange bridge. Over the next several months, crews will be tying rebar, forming the bridge deck and placing concrete.

ITD encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention in the work zone. The speed limit is 55 mph on I-84 and 25 mph on Broadway Avenue.

Concrete Placing Co. Inc., of Boise, is the contractor on the $26.7 million project.
