Southwest Idaho highway construction report for Oct. 17-24

The following projects in southwest Idaho are now underway:

ADA COUNTY
Interchange reconstructions (GARVEE)

I-84, Broadway Avenue Interchange

Crews plan to set girders on the west half of the new bridge Friday and Saturday nights (Oct. 17, 18). During this work, traffic from I-84 will be detoured across the Broadway Interchange. These are the last girders to be set on the new interchange bridge.

For more information on this project, please see the project website at: http://apps.itd.idaho.gov/apps/broadwayinterchange/default.html

I-84, Gowen Road Interchange

Traffic will be switched to a temporary eastbound off-ramp on Saturday overnight (Oct. 18), and crews continue to pave the median area before and after the eastbound bridge over Gowen Road.
The current two-lane, two-way traffic pattern is expected to end in early November.

For more information on this project, please see the project website at: http://apps.itd.idaho.gov/apps/goweninterchange/default.html

I-84, Meridian Road Interchange

A full closure of the Meridian Road Interchange this weekend (Oct. 17-20) will allow crews to switch traffic onto the newly built bridge deck. During the closure, drivers will be detoured to the Ten Mile and Eagle Road interchanges. The old bridge will be demolished the following weekend (Oct. 24, 25).

The crossover pattern on east- and westbound I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads will remain in place until the weather gets too cold for crews to work.

ADA COUNTY
BOISE - Idaho 16 Extension, river crossing and local road connections (GARVEE)

The contractor will initiate reseeding to stabilize areas disturbed by construction. Once water is out of the irrigation systems, the contractor will return to repair and retrofit irrigation features.

For more information on this project, please see the project website at: http://itd.idaho.gov/Projects/garvee/D3/Idaho16_US2026toIdaho44.asp

CANYON COUNTY
NAMPA - I-84, UPRR E. Lateral Canal Bridge & Northside Blvd. Underpass

The overall project is expected to be complete within the next week or so. Over the past week, the contractor completed painting the final coat on the eastbound UPRR Bridge. Over the next week, the contractor will be removing temporary structures used for painting, as well as completing final work items.

For more information on this project, please see the project website at: http://itd.idaho.gov/Projects/D3/nampaBridges/default.html

VALLEY COUNTY
McCALL – Lardo Bridge Replacement

The bridge closed Oct. 15 and will remain closed for approximately one month while the new bridge is slid into place. The “lateral slide” is the first in Idaho by ITD. This method reduces a full closure of the bridge by months.

The construction/design contract is for $3.64 million.

WASHINGTON COUNTY
PAYETTE - Idaho 52 railroad overpass replacement

Rehabilitation and resurfacing the railroad overpass on Idaho 52 in Payette continues.

The demolition will begin on the third phase of this project soon. The removal of lead-based paint is now complete. Repair and painting continues on the railing of the bridge. One lane is open in each direction. The project is expected to finish in mid-November.

Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, is the contractor on this $1.3 million project.
