Southwest Idaho highway construction report for Oct. 24-31
The following projects in southwest Idaho are now underway:
ADA COUNTY
Meridian, Broadway
and Gowen interchange reconstructions (GARVEE)
I-84, Broadway Avenue Interchange
Last weekend, the final girders were set for the new interchange bridge. Over
the next week, crews will continue paving the median and working on the I-84
railroad bridges.

I-84, Gowen Road Interchange
Crews will work all day Monday (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to complete the deck of
the I-84 railroad bridge just west of the Gowen Interchange. Motorists can
expect to see heavy equipment, increased activity and flagging on the I-84
Gowen eastbound off-ramp. The work will result in limited space on the
off-ramp, so ITD reminds drivers to slow down, pay attention and use extra
caution when traveling through the work zone.
Overnight lane restrictions will be in place on Gowen Road on Monday night (Oct. 27) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The nighttime lane restrictions will continue on intermittent nights through the end of the month as crews work to complete the new eastbound I-84 bridge over Gowen Road.

I-84, Meridian Road Interchange
Interstate 84 will be closed tonight (Oct. 24) under the Meridian Interchange
from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. as crews demolish the old bridge. During the closure,
flaggers will detour traffic across the interchange. On Saturday night (Oct.
25), lane restrictions will be in place on I-84 under the interchange from 10
p.m. to 7 a.m. as crews haul debris from the old bridge to an off-site
location.
Removing the old bridge will clear the area for crews to begin constructing the east half of the new interchange bridge.

VALLEY COUNTY
McCALL – Lardo Bridge Replacement
The bridge closed Oct. 15 and will remain closed for approximately one month while
the new bridge is slid into place. The Lardo Bridge is the first new bridge to be
built by ITD using the lateral slide construction method, which reduces a full
closure of the bridge by months.
The construction/design contract is for $3.64 million.

WASHINGTON COUNTY
PAYETTE - Idaho 52 railroad overpass replacement
Lead-based paint removal, rail-repair work and painting are now complete. Work continues on deck rehab. Deck rehabilitation and superstructure crack repair is expected prior to the project finishing in mid-November.
Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, is the contractor on this $1.3 million project.
