New I-84 westbound on-ramp at Broadway Avenue Interchange to open Friday morning
BOISE – Flaggers will direct traffic through the I-84, Broadway Avenue Interchange on Thursday night (Oct. 30) as crews transition traffic onto a new westbound on-ramp, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Motorists entering westbound I-84 from Broadway Avenue will begin using the new on-ramp Friday morning (Oct. 31).
Overnight Thursday (8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.), traffic signals will be turned off at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and the westbound I-84 ramps as flaggers control traffic. Drivers also can expect overnight lane restrictions on Broadway Avenue as crews shift traffic to the east.
Once the new I-84 westbound on-ramp opens, crews will begin removing the existing soundwall along the old ramp. Panels removed from this wall will be reused to build a new soundwall.
During the next several weeks, crews also will work on the north side of the new on-ramp to dig a stormwater drainage area behind the soundwall.
ITD encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention in the work zone. The speed limit is 55 mph on I-84 and 25 mph on Broadway Avenue.
Concrete Placing Co., of Boise, is the contractor on the $26.7 million project.
