I-84 between Meridian and Eagle interchanges will return to four lanes this week
MERIDIAN -- Interstate 84 between Meridian and Eagle interchanges will return to four lanes in both directions by Wednesday, Nov. 26, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
The work will be rescheduled if delayed by inclement weather.
Three lanes in both directions will remain in place on I-84 from the Eagle Interchange to Five Mile Road. In order to return this roadway section to four lanes in each direction, crews need to pave the westbound shoulder and restripe the road. ITD anticipates reopening the fourth lane in this section later next week.
“While work on the interstate will slow down for winter, construction at the Meridian Interchange will continue. Drivers need to remember to leave early, pay attention and slow down” said Jayme Coonce, ITD Project Engineer.
Both westbound and eastbound I-84 will remain open to four lanes of traffic until February 2015 when crews will resume work. At that time, lane restrictions and a crossover traffic pattern will be put back in place on I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile.
The project is expected to be complete by late next year.
