U.S. 95 turnbays on Freeze Road and Beplate Road planned for 2015

LEWISTON - Turnbays from U.S. 95 are planned for Freeze Road and Beplate Road, with construction starting in late summer and ending in the fall of 2015, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is expected to be advertised to potential contractors in the first few months of the new year.

In this safety improvement project, a double left turnbay with a right turnbay for northbound traffic is proposed at Beplate Road and a double left turnbay with a right turnbay for southbound traffic is proposed at Freeze Road. The turnbays will increase the safety of U.S. 95 and reduce traffic delays caused by turning traffic. Widening for the left turnbay will be necessary both east and west of U.S. 95 at Beplate Road, but widening was only necessary west of U.S. 95 at Freeze Road.

Right-of-way acquisition was not needed for the turnbay on Be Plate Road, but was necessary for the Freeze Road turnbay.

In both cases, a seal coat is planned following the project, in the next construction season, to seal the new joints and provide a protective layer to the new surface to help it last longer.
