Southwest Idaho highway construction report for Dec. 12-19

Activities this week are weather dependent.

I-84, Broadway Avenue Interchange

Traffic on Interstate 84 will be shifted into the median from the railroad bridges to just west of the Broadway Interchange. The new traffic pattern will be put in place on the eastbound side of I-84 on Sunday night (Dec. 14); the westbound side will be shifted into the median later next week. Traffic will use the median through next summer as crews rebuild the outside lanes of I-84 and the railroad bridges just east of the Broadway Interchange.

The I-84 eastbound off-ramp will be reduced to one lane so crews have room to build the permanent ramp and excavate the drainage area.

I-84, Gowen Road Interchange

Crews will start work to rebuild Gowen Road between S. Eisenman Road and the westbound off-ramps. Intermittent nighttime lane restrictions will be in place on Gowen Road as crews place pavement and install temporary signals.

For more information on this project, please see the project website at: http://apps.itd.idaho.gov/apps/goweninterchange/default.html

I-84, Meridian Road Interchange

Crews will continue constructing bridge piers, columns and walls on the east half of the bridge. Crews also will continue to work on installing new signal foundations at the northeast and northwest corners of the intersection of Meridian and Overland roads. The existing signal poles will be replaced with new, relocated poles to accommodate the widening of Meridian Road.
