Expect daytime flagging on Gowen Road throughout the week as crews begin rebuilding and widening road
BOISE -- Throughout the week (Dec. 15–19), flaggers will direct traffic on Gowen Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Eisenman Road and the westbound Interstate 84 ramps. Crews will install temporary traffic signals and place temporary pavement. This work marks the start of rebuilding and widening Gowen Road from Federal Way to Eisenman Road.
Temporary pavement will be placed on the north side of Gowen Road between S. Eisenman and the westbound I-84 ramps. Once temporary pavement is in place, traffic will shift to the north side of Gowen Road so crews can begin rebuilding the south side of the roadway.
In addition, temporary signals will be installed on Gowen Road at the intersections of S. Eisenman Road and the eastbound ramps. The free-running, right-turn at Gowen and S. Eisenman Road also will be removed.
ITD is rebuilding Gowen Road from Federal Way to S. Eisenman Road as part of the I-84, Gowen Interchange Project. Over the next year, Gowen Road will be widened to two through lanes in both directions, and a third lane will be added on the eastbound side of Gowen Road. The lanes will be wider than the existing lanes, and sidewalk, curb and bicycle lanes will be added.
Crews will work on rebuilding the south side of Gowen Road through the winter.
