Broadway Interchange I-84 ramp changes Tuesday night (Dec. 23)
BOISE – The Broadway Interchange/Interstate 84 ramps will change Tuesday (Dec. 23), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. Crews will work overnight to shift traffic onto new temporary eastbound on- and off-ramps and the westbound off-ramp.
Flaggers will direct traffic where the east- and westbound ramps intersect with Broadway Avenue. Crews will
finish installing temporary signals and striping the roadway. Motorists will begin using the new temporary ramps on Wednesday morning (Dec. 24).
Shifting traffic onto temporary ramps will allow crews to remove the old railroad bridges east of the interchange, remove the old ramps and build drainage areas.
“The temporary eastbound on-ramp will be shorter so traffic will have less time to merge,” said Dana Weiss, ITD project engineer. “Through traffic needs to move to the left, if possible, near the eastbound I-84 on-ramp to accommodate merging trucks.”
Traffic will use the temporary ramps through next summer.
