Construction gears back up on I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile; traffic patterns change next week
MERIDIAN – During the coming weekend (Feb. 6, 7 and 8), a new traffic pattern will be put back in place on Interstate 84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. The traffic pattern will remain in place for several months as crews continue rebuilding the original 1960s outside lanes and shoulders of I-84.
Implementation of the new traffic pattern is weather dependent.
Starting next Monday (Feb. 9), one lane of westbound I-84 will cross over to the eastbound side of the median
between Cloverdale and Eagle roads.
A concrete barrier will separate the westbound crossover lane from traffic. Motorists in the westbound crossover lane will not have access to the Eagle Road and Meridian Road interchanges. Motorists will need to stay in the far right lane to access these two exits.
A similar crossover pattern will be put in place for eastbound I-84 between Cloverdale and Five Mile roads once the westbound changes are completed.

ITD is asking everyone to leave early, slow down and pay attention in the work zone.
“ITD is working hard to reconstruct I-84 as quickly and safely as possible,” said ITD Project Engineer Jayme Coonce. “We recognize that lane restrictions on the interstate cause delays and appreciate your patience.”
ITD is rebuilding the I-84, Meridian Interchange and improving I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads. Concrete Placing Company, of Boise, is the contractor for the $50.8 million project. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2015.
