Restrictions begin Wednesday morning on two more highways in North Idaho

COEUR d'ALENE - Break-up speed restrictions will be imposed Wednesday morning (Feb. 11) at 6 a.m. for drivers on a 21.4-mile section of Idaho 3 (from the junction with Idaho 97 to the junction with Interstate 90), and a 14.7-mile section of Idaho 57 (from Coolin Bay Road to the highway’s end) to protect against potential damage due to pavements and soils weakened by a combination of freeze-thaw cycles and heavier vehicles.

Heavy commercial vehicles more than 10,000 lb. GVW will be restricted to 30 mph from milepost 95.7-117.1 on Idaho 3, and from milepost 22.5 to 37.23 on Idaho 57. Trucks will be allowed legal axle weights, but oversize and annual over-weight permitted vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the highway.

These road sections join four other highway sections in the area restricted since the end of January, including:

- U.S. 95, milepost 522-538.56
- Idaho 41, milepost 8-39.06
- Idaho 53, milepost 0-14.3
- Idaho 54, milepost 0-8
