Traffic shift onto temporary westbound on-ramp tonight (Feb. 12); I-84 lane restrictions through February

BOISE – Tonight (Feb. 12), crews will shift traffic to a temporary westbound on-ramp at the Interstate 84-Gowen Interchange, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. Drivers will use the temporary on-ramp through the summer while the new permanent ramp is being constructed.

Lanes will be restricted tonight on Gowen Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. near the I-84 westbound on- and off-ramps while the traffic shift is being put in place.

Through the end of February, I-84 will intermittently be restricted to one lane in both directions overnight near
the Gowen Interchange. Lanes will be restricted from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, and from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends. The lane restrictions will allow crews to install bases for signage on the interstate near the Gowen Interchange.

The work is part of constructing the new I-84, Gowen Interchange. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2015.

To sign up for email construction updates, contact ITD at comments@itd.idaho.gov, visit the project website at www.itd.idaho.gov/GowenInterchange or call (208) 334-8005.
