Overnight ramp closures at I-84, Gowen Interchange Wednesday through Thursday (March 4-5)

BOISE – Wednesday and Thursday night (March 4-5), there will be several closures of on- and off-ramps at the Interstate 84, Gowen Road Interchange, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. Ramp closures will allow crews to place guardrail and stripe the roadway for a new traffic pattern on I-84.

This work is weather-dependent.

The eastbound on-ramp at the Gowen Interchange will be closed Wednesday night (Mar. 4). On Thursday night (Mar. 5) the westbound on- and off-ramps will be closed. Every night, the closures will begin at 8 p.m. and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m.

For the next several days, lane restrictions will continue in both directions on I-84 from the Eisenman Interchange to just west of the Gowen Interchange. By Thursday (Mar. 5), I-84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction 24/7 along a 1.5-mile stretch east and west of the Gowen Interchange. This traffic pattern will remain in place through the summer.

ITD reminds drivers to leave early, slow down and pay attention.

ITD is replacing the Gowen Interchange and adding a third lane on I-84 in order to add capacity and help reduce traffic congestion. Construction will be complete late this year.

Knife River Construction, Boise, is the contractor for the I-84, Gowen Interchange project.
