Closure on Gowen Road scheduled for Monday night; rock blasting at I-84, Gowen Interchange begins Tuesday evening

BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will close Gowen Road in both directions between Eisenman Road and the Interstate 84 eastbound ramps on Monday night (March 9).

The closure will begin at 8 p.m. and the road will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Crews will be installing a pipe under Gowen Road as part of utility work for the interchange construction project.

During the overnight closure on Gowen Road, drivers will need to use an alternate route. Click here for a detour map.

Crews will blast rock at the Gowen Road Interchange on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (March 10 and 11). On both nights, I-84 will be completely closed in both directions between the Eisenman and Broadway interchanges, and traffic will be detoured to Federal Way from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews also will  place overhead signage on the interstate during the overnight closures.

ITD is blasting rock to make room for building the new I-84, Gowen Interchange. Construction of the new interchange is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
