Traffic on Meridian Road south of I-84 will be shifted beginning Thursday night (March 12)

BOISE--The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will shift traffic on Meridian Road between the eastbound I-84 ramps and Overland Road on Thursday night (March 12). Traffic will be shifted further to the west side of Meridian Road for several months as crews widen and rebuild the east side.

Lanes will be restricted in the work zone on Meridian Road Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews put the new traffic pattern in place. During the overnight work, flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection of Meridian and Overland roads.

“Shifting traffic further to the west on Meridian Road will eliminate the curve on the south side of the I-84 bridge,” said Jayme Coonce, ITD District 3 project engineer. “ITD anticipates this will allow for a straighter, smoother flow of traffic between the I-84 bridge and Overland Road.”

Construction on the east side of Meridian Road is expected to be complete this summer. ITD is rebuilding Meridian Road between Central Drive and Overland Road as part of the I-84, Meridian Interchange Project, which will be finished late this year.
