Greensferry Overpass work focuses on abutments, bridge girders
POST FALLS - Work is now focused on preparing bridge abutments and remaining girders for the new Greensferry Overpass near Post Falls, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews are completing work on columns for the north abutment. Site utility work continues for Schneidmiller Avenue, Polston Street and Greensferry Road. Clearing for the abutment south of the freeway is slated for Wednesday (March 11), with excavation and backfill scheduled for Thursday through Sunday (March 12-15).

The 15 girders required for the new bridge have been fabricated offsite and are slated to be installed by the end of April.

The inside shoulders of Interstate 90 remain closed during this work, but no lane or outside shoulder closures will be required. No interstate closures are planned during the remainder of March.

Year-long construction of the overpass in Post Falls began Dec. 1, 2014. The project will build a new bridge spanning I-90 and Schneidmiller on the south side of the freeway. When completed, the new structure will feature two lanes in each direction, a center-turn lane, bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides connecting to Centennial Park.

Ralph L. Wadsworth (RLW), of Draper, Utah, is the firm responsible for this $15 million design-build project. The overpass is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2015. The Post Falls Urban Renewal Agency funded the project.
