Utility work takes place this week near Broadway Bridge in Boise

BOISE – Utility work is taking place this week near the Broadway Avenue Bridge in downtown Boise, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

For several days, crews will be drilling potholes near the bridge and on the west side of Broadway Avenue to locate utility lines.

The utility work, which started Wednesday (March 11), is being done as part of the transportation department’s plans to replace the Broadway Avenue Bridge.

Crews will work in the riverbed near the Broadway Bridge on Wednesday and Thursday (March 11 and 12), then move to the roadway next week.

Early next week, drilling will occur at three locations on the west side of Broadway Avenue between the bridge and University Drive. Crews will be drilling intermittently through Monday and Tuesday (March 16 and 17), avoiding peak travel times, and lane restrictions will be in place on Broadway Avenue in the work zone. The sidewalk also will be closed on the west side of Broadway Avenue, and pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of the roadway.

Minor delays can be expected in the area during the utility work. Signs will be placed along Broadway Avenue to notify drivers and pedestrians of lane restrictions and sidewalk closures.
