Public meeting to provide update and opportunity for input on I-15 interchange options in the North Pocatello/Chubbuck area
POCATELLO - A public meeting will be held Tuesday, June 27, to update Chubbuck and Pocatello-area residents on the I-15 interchange project and identify issues to be evaluated in the environmental study, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The meeting, at the Portneuf District Library, 5210 Stuart Ave. in Chubbuck, will begin with a project overview presentation and move to an open house format, allowing individuals to visit with project staff.

To give adequate time for participation, the public is asked to attend the meeting based on their last name:

Names beginning with A through M, attend from 4 5:30 p.m.
Names beginning with N through Z, attend from 6 7:30 p.m.

However, if these times are not convenient, plan to attend at the time that fits your schedule.

Rapid growth in the northeastern bench and northern Chubbuck areas have caused congestion at the interstate access points at Chubbuck interchange on I-86 at U.S. 91, and at Pocatello Creek interchange at I-15 Business on I-15.

The transportation department is conducting an environmental study to evaluate interstate access and congestion issues. Preliminary concepts were presented at a public meeting in April 2005. The preliminary concepts have been studied and reduced to five possible "build" concepts that will be presented at the meeting. ITD would like the public to comment on the concepts and identify any additional issues or concerns.

Public input will help the project team further refine the concepts and define the next steps in the environmental study.

The study area is roughly bounded on the south by the I-15/I-86 WYE and on the north by 2 1/2 Mile Road.  The study area may include connecting roads and ramps at proposed interchange locations.  Local options that do not use I-15 are also being considered.
