Bridge work to restrict traffic on Idaho 74, Eden overpass starting next week

TWIN FALLS – Two bridge resurfacing projects are expected to begin next week and will have minor traffic impacts on Idaho 74 southwest of Twin Falls and on the Eden Road Overpass, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Beginning Monday (April 13), crews will begin work to resurface the two bridges, alternating work at each structure for about two months. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane at each location.

Work on the Eden Road Overpass (1600 East Road), in Jerome County, will include installing traffic control. Work will not affect traffic on Interstate 84.

Beginning about April 20, work also will start on the Low Line Canal bridge near the 2600 East Road intersection on Idaho 74.

Half of each bridge structure will be closed while workers remove the driving surface, pour a new concrete surface, and complete other bridge maintenance and upgrades.

Temporary traffic signals will control traffic through the construction zones. A 13-foot width limit will be in effect.

Cannon Builders Inc., of Blackfoot, is the contractor for the $1.5 million contract, which includes additional work beginning later this summer.
