Changes at Interstate 84 Gowen Interchange westbound on-ramp scheduled for tonight (April 13)
BOISE – Motorists will be shifted onto a new westbound on-ramp at the Interstate 84, Gowen Interchange tonight (Monday, April 13), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. Drivers will use this ramp through the summer while crews rebuild the outside lanes and shoulders of I-84.
“Drivers are being shifted onto the permanent on-ramp that is part of the new Gowen Interchange,” said ITD Project Manager Merrill Sharp. “The lane configurations on this ramp will be adjusted several times as construction continues through late this year.”
Pile driving at the I-84 bridge over Gowen Road will continue this week. Drivers and surrounding businesses can expect to hear higher than normal noise volumes as crews hammer steel piles into the ground to support the new westbound side of the bridge. This work will be done during the day.
The speed limit is 55 mph on I-84 and 25 mph on Gowen Road and Federal Way.
ITD is replacing the I-84, Gowen Interchange and adding a third lane on I-84 in order to add capacity and help reduce traffic congestion. Construction will be complete late this year.
