Boise bridge maintenance will affect traffic on Emerald Street west of Curtis Road

BOISE – Drivers can expect intermittent delays for bridge-maintenance activities on Emerald Street west of Curtis Road in Boise Monday (April 20), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., traffic will be stopped briefly on Emerald Street between Raymond Street and Camelot Drive. Flaggers will direct alternating lanes of traffic across the bridge.

The April 20 restrictions will allow ITD to remove railing along Emerald Street where it crosses over I-184. The rail will be repaired and repainted to prevent rusting. ITD plans to reinstall the rail in early May and begin repairing the remaining part of the railing.

A temporary barrier will protect traffic while the guardrail is repainted. The sidewalk on westbound Emerald Street will be closed from April 20 to early May.

ITD is maintaining 10 bridges along the I-184 Connector and I-84 to extend their lifespans. The Orchard Street Bridge over I-184 south of Fairview Avenue is also under construction. Work will begin on the remaining bridges in early June. To sign up for emails about lane restrictions during this project, email comments@itd.idaho.gov or call (208) 334-8005.
