Repairs on bridges between Arco and Salmon begin tomorrow (April 28)
RIGBY - Repairs on bridges between Arco and Salmon on U.S. 93 and Idaho 75 will begin tomorrow (Tuesday, April 28), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Crews will start with the Big Lost River Bridge south of Arco and the Arco Canal Bridge north of Arco.
Workers will repair 13 bridges in all, including the Salmon River Bridge in Salmon. Repairs will consist of resurfacing, sealing, patching, crack filling, and new guardrail as needed.
Motorists can expect brief delays. Travel may be reduced to one lane, with flaggers or portable signals directing traffic through the construction zones. The bridge-repair projects are scheduled for completion in late August. Drivers should anticipate reduced speed limits, be prepared to stop, and watch for construction workers and equipment.
Crews first will resurface the deck of the Big Lost River Bridge south of Arco, removing and replacing the concrete surface. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph for concrete placement and curing. Reduced speed helps minimize the damage from vehicles jarring the deck during cure time. The speed-limit reduction will last up to 15 days and be enforced around the clock. Work on this bridge is scheduled for completion in late May.
Workers will fill cracks in the deck of the Arco Canal Bridge. This work is scheduled for completion in mid-May.
