Paving work scheduled near McCall's Lardo Bridge May 18-22

BOISE—A short section of Idaho 55 east of McCall’s new Lardo Bridge will be paved the week of May 18, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Idaho 55 will be reduced to one lane east of the bridge from May 18-22 during daytime hours, with the exception of May 22, when paving will conclude at noon.

Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. No lane reductions are planned overnight.

The bridge is located at the outlet to Payette Lake on the southwest shore. Ralph L. Wadsworth and Lochner used ITD’s conceptual design to complete the bridge design and build the new bridge in 2014.

Crews demolished the old Lardo Bridge in November. The new bridge was constructed north of the existing structure. Six 157-foot girders for the new bridge, weighing 197,000 lbs. apiece, were set on the temporary structure in mid-September 2014. The new bridge was then slid into place in late October, using a “lateral slide” accelerated construction method. This method reduced a full closure of the bridge by months.
