Multiple overnight closures scheduled for next week on Interstate 84 at Broadway Avenue Interchange

BOISE – A series of overnight closures on Interstate 84 at the Broadway Interchange in east Boise are scheduled Tuesday through Friday (May 26, 27, 28, 29). The closures will allow crews to place overhead sign structures on the interstate between the Vista and Gowen interchanges. Throughout the week, on- and off-ramps at the Broadway Interchange will also be closed overnight for paving activities. This work is weather dependent.

Below is a schedule of the planned closures and detour maps. Each night, signage and flaggers will be placed along the detour routes to help guide and direct drivers.

  • Tues. (May 26): The I-84 eastbound on- and off-ramps at the Broadway Interchange will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Wed. (May 27): Westbound I-84 will be closed between the Gowen and Broadway interchanges from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the overnight closure, westbound traffic from the interstate will be detoured off I-84 at the Gowen Interchange, then west on Federal Way to get back on I-84 at the Broadway Interchange.   • Thurs. (May 28): Eastbound I-84 will be closed overnight between the Vista and Broadway interchanges from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the overnight closure, eastbound traffic from the interstate will be detoured off I-84 at the Vista Interchange, then east to Broadway Avenue via Airport Way, Development Avenue and Commerce Avenue.   • Fri. (May 29): The I-84 westbound on-ramp at the Broadway Interchange will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Message boards will be placed along I-84 to alert motorists of the closures and detours.

Intermittent overnight lane restrictions will continue on I-84 at the Broadway Interchange through mid-June.

ITD reminds drivers to leave early, slow down and pay attention. The work-zone speed limit is 25 mph on Broadway Avenue and 55 mph on I-84.
