Changes on I-84 between Meridian Interchange and Cloverdale Road will begin Thursday (May 28)

Boise-- From Thursday (May 28) through Sunday (May 31), crews will be working to put in place a new traffic pattern on Interstate 84 between the Meridian Interchange and Five Mile overpass, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. The traffic pattern will remain in place through early August as crews continue to rebuild the outside lanes and shoulder of I-84.

These activities are weather-dependent.

By Monday morning (June 1), one eastbound lane will cross the median to the westbound side of I-84 between Meridian and Cloverdale roads. Drivers in this lane will not be able to exit eastbound I-84 at Eagle Road.

Motorists using the eastbound off-ramp at Eagle Road will need to be in the right lane just after the Meridian Interchange. Eastbound I-84 will reopen to four lanes just past Cloverdale Road.

On westbound I-84, the crossover pattern that has been in place since early this year will be removed. Westbound I-84 will remain restricted to three lanes between Cloverdale Road and the Meridian Interchange.

As the new traffic pattern is put in place, the eastbound I-84 on- and off-ramps at the Eagle Road Interchange will change daily. ITD urges drivers to slow down, pay attention and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

"As the summer begins, we are nearing the final phase of construction for all I-84 improvement projects in the Treasure Valley,” said Jayme Coonce, ITD District 3 Project Engineer. “The rehabilitation of I-84 from Meridian to Five Mile, and the Meridian, Gowen and Broadway interchange projects will all be complete in six months.”
