Public comment sought on Broadway Bridge design elements at June 10 workshop

BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department is seeking public input on design elements for the Broadway Bridge at a workshop on Wednesday (June 10).

The community workshop is from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Washington Group Plaza, 720 Park Boulevard, in the Central Plaza Training Room.

The transportation department is in the planning stages of a project to replace the Broadway Bridge at the northeast corner of the Boise State University campus with a new bridge that will have more lanes for traffic, wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes and improved access to the Greenbelt. The project also includes rebuilding Broadway Avenue from University Drive to Front Street.

The meeting – which is open to the public – will be the fifth in a series of design workshops the transportation department began hosting in early 2013. During the workshop, the department will gather input and present the most up-to-date design plans for the project.

“ITD appreciates the comments and feedback that have been provided throughout the design process for this significant project,” said Mark Campbell, manager for the bridge replacement project. “Input gathered through the workshops has helped ITD move forward with design decisions, which will result in a smooth transition into construction.”

The transportation department anticipates construction may begin as soon as this December.
