Paving project in Bliss begins Thursday

BLISS – Drivers can expect lane restrictions and short delays for the next week on U.S. 26 and the Interstate 84 business loop in Bliss as work to repair asphalt finishes, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The asphalt-replacement project will include removing approximately two inches of asphalt from the surface of the roadway and laying a mat of new asphalt in the east end of Bliss. Work will take place in and around the intersection of U.S. 30 and U.S. 26, and to the east of I-84 ramps near the railroad crossing.

Beginning Thursday (June 11), crews will begin removing asphalt throughout the work area. Paving is expected to begin Monday (June 15) and should finish by June 19.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with alternating lane closures. Watch for flaggers in the construction zone from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for about a week. Drivers should be prepared for bumps and uneven driving surfaces through the work zone.

Drivers are urged to use caution near the construction zone and watch for workers and equipment. ITD appreciates the patience and cooperation of those driving through the work zone.
