Lane closures on the Connector as Boise bridge maintenance continues Friday through Wednesday (June 26-July 1)

BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department will be performing maintenance work on three bridges on the I-184 Connector Friday through Wednesday (June 26-July 1). Crews will also begin work on the Interstate 84 bridge over the New York Canal, located just east of the Orchard Interchange.

This work is part of ITD’s project to extend the lifespan of ten bridges in the Treasure Valley by the end of August. Overnight and morning lane closures will be in place as crews work on each bridge. The schedule for this work is weather-dependent.

Below is an overview of the work locations and traffic impacts for June 26-July 1. Click here for a fact sheet of locations for all of the Treasure Valley bridge maintenance projects.

• Connector over 27th Street (near Boise River and Riverside Hotel): Lane closures will be in place in both directions on Friday (June 26) and Sunday (June 28). Lane closures will be from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. on the westbound side and to 5 a.m. on the eastbound side. The work zone speed limit will be 50 mph.

• Emerald Street over Connector: Lane closures will be in place and crews will flag traffic on Monday night (June 29) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The work zone speed limit will be 25 mph.

• Main Street over Chinden Boulevard: Lane closures will be in place on Tuesday night (June 30) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The work zone speed limit will be 25 mph.

• I-84 over the New York Canal (just east of Orchard Interchange): Lane closures will be in place in both directions on I-84 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday (June 29-July 1). The work zone speed limit will be 50 mph.

“Drivers should use caution and allow for plenty of distance between vehicles when driving over these newly overlayed bridges,” said ITD Project Engineer Dana Weiss.

Work on the bridges includes surface maintenance on the decks, patching concrete and waterproofing. When complete, ITD estimates this maintenance will extend the lifespan of the bridge surfaces up to 20 years.

Upcoming work locations will be announced via email and on 511.idaho.gov. To sign up for email updates for this project, text ITDBRIDGES to 22828 or send your email address to comments@itd.idaho.gov.
